Exploring life’s big questions

What’s Existential Coaching?

Existential coaching is an invitation to explore the questions at the heart of every human life. Notice what arises as you read these questions:

  • What does it mean to live a good life?

  • How do I find meaning?

  • How do I live with freedom and still stay connected?

  • How do I face uncertainty, change, and loss?

They are woven into the fabric of our daily experience. They guide our choices, define our sense of purpose, and color our experience of the world.

You may have already wrestled with these questions quietly, in the spaces between roles and responsibilities. Often, we only engage with them consciously when life strips away what we thought we knew: when success feels hollow, when a relationship ends, when loss breaks open our familiar world, or a powerful experience challenges our old assumptions.

Take a breath. What question is actually alive in you right now?

Existential coaching is a way of looking directly at fundamental aspects of human existence, such as meaning, purpose, freedom, responsibility, isolation, and mortality. We explore what truly matters to you, how meaning emerges in your life, and what assumptions shape what feels possible.

Meaning here is like a conversation — alive, responsive, revealing itself between you and the world. This work helps you participate in that conversation more consciously and authentically.

Existential coaching is part of my broader approach to coaching.

How This Unfolds

Existential coaching works through sustained inquiry into what's actually present in your lived experience.

You might come to a session feeling the hollowness of achievements that once mattered, facing a significant choice that reveals the weight of freedom itself, or navigating loss when the familiar ground has disappeared. We begin with what's stirring, confusing, or calling you.

In our sessions, we listen for what's beneath the surface story. When you describe feeling stuck, we explore your relationship with choice and responsibility. When meaning feels elusive, we investigate how it's actually emerging through your experience. When anxiety arises, we examine what it's revealing about freedom, limitation, or what genuinely matters to you.

You might find yourself navigating the gap between how you're living and what you truly value, exploring what authenticity means when you're embedded in relationships and commitments, or examining how you're relating to mortality and the limits of control.

As you drop into deeper contact with what's actually here, including the tensions and paradoxes inherent in human existence, something can shift. Questions become more like spaces to inhabit. From a more spacious awareness, you discover you can hold complexity, uncertainty, and even contradiction with more wisdom and presence.

This work happens through attentive dialogue and deepening. The insights don't stay abstract. They reshape how you live.

Working Together

Existential coaching is one dimension of my broader approach to coaching. While existential themes can become a central thread, they often weave naturally through broader themes of growth.

If this resonates, you might explore more details about coaching. Many people also discover that purpose work provides a natural home for existential inquiry.

Or if something here calls to you directly, let's simply begin a conversation.
