Unfolding
Depth-oriented coaching in Sydney and online. Rooted in Aletheia coaching — inviting transformation through presence and wholeness.
Living wisely, meaningfully, and intelligently in a complex world
You’re navigating a world where personal and collective challenges weave together in ways that feel unprecedented.
The world demands optimization; you long for deeper meaning. Finances constrain your choices; something in you wants to invest in what truly matters. Life calls for presence; yet the fragmentation of our times scatters your attention.
You care deeply about contributing to a wiser, more beautiful world, yet might feel caught between practical realities and your most profound values and dreams.
Pause for a moment. Notice what it's like to hold all of this right now.
You might sense beneath the endless problem-solving, something in you already knows how to meet what's here. The wisdom you’re seeking may already be moving through you—guiding your choices, attuning you to what matters, even in how you’re reading these words.
This recognition opens us to a different kind of question:
What becomes possible when you fully meet what’s here and trust the intelligence of what wants to emerge?
This is where the conversation begins.
The journey of unfolding
Human unfolding expresses through many interwoven lines. Each moves in its own rhythm, yet all belong to one living whole.
Somatic — The body recognizes its innate intelligence. As tension softens and breath deepens, presence becomes tangible, an anchor for clarity, attunement, and trust in life’s unfolding.
Emotional — The heart opens more deeply. Emotions transmute from obstacles to deeper qualities of being, revealing the subtle intelligence that turns vulnerability into depth, and feeling into wisdom.
Psychological — The self integrates. Parts long split off find inclusion. The ego relaxes into coherence, and life organizes around a deeper center of authenticity and wholeness.
Cognitive — Perception refines. You recognize the assumptions, narratives, and perspectives that shape meaning. Thinking becomes more complex, adaptive, and creative.
Ethical — Action aligns. Discernment arises spontaneously from attunement to life, informing what you choose and how you respond to the world around you.
Spiritual — Awareness recognizes itself. The sense of separation softens, revealing the open, self-knowing, luminous field in which experience unfolds.
Aesthetic — Perception re-enchants. Beauty, imagination, and meaning reappear as expressions of the same living reality. The world reveals itself as intimate, participatory, and sacred.
All these dimensions unfold as facets of life knowing itself through you. Our work simply attends to where this living intelligence is ready to flower next.
How we meet
In our sessions, we meet what’s alive for you.
You bring your real questions, challenges, and longings. I bring presence, deep listening, and attuned support. Together, we stay close to what’s unfolding, working with whatever is arising, whether it’s fear, frustration, tenderness, insight, or possibility.
You’ll begin to attune to the subtle intelligence of your body. To notice the different parts of you that seek voice, safety, or expression. To feel into emotions and sensations as they emerge. Sometimes, what first appears as irritation might reveal deeper grief. That grief, when met with care, might open into clarity or unexpected strength.
The presence and awareness you cultivate here naturally ripple out, changing how you meet difficult conversations, make decisions, and navigate complexity in your daily life.
Approach
-
Aletheia Coaching is the central framework for our work together. It is a developmental and depth-oriented approach that supports unfoldment: the natural emergence of your deepest capacities through presence and inquiry.
Aletheia Coaching works with the deeper patterns that shape your life. This includes exploring the cognitive, emotional, somatic, and spiritual dimensions of experience, as well as how they’re influenced by relationships, culture, and environment.
Core elements of Aletheia Coaching include:
Parts Work – Inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS), this involves recognising and integrating different aspects of the self, so that fragmented or protective patterns can relax back into wholeness.
Process Work – Inspired by Eugene Gendlin’s Focusing, this cultivates a felt-sense awareness of subtle, pre-verbal experience, allowing deeper wisdom to emerge naturally.
Presence Work – Supports intimate contact with the qualities of Being (love, clarity, compassion, joy) that reveal themselves when experience is met deeply.
Nondual Work – Practices of inquiry and direct recognition that reveal the nature of awareness itself, dissolving rigid self-concepts and opening into spaciousness.
-
Grounded in Aletheia Coaching, our work is guided by frameworks that help us understand how growth naturally unfolds through presence and inquiry.
Developmental coaching and integral coaching offer broad perspectives on human unfoldment, orienting our work toward how awareness, feeling, and action evolve together over time.
Within that orientation, we explore the living dimensions of your unfolding. Often we move through psychological and emotional territory, meeting inner parts and feelings that want to be seen and integrated. Through this process, the heart opens. Working with the body is essential for growth to take root, so we invite somatic awareness and embodied presence. We engage the mind, clarifying meaning and perspective to help you navigate life’s complexities with new understanding. Each dimension supports the others, allowing transformation to become more authentic and whole.
People come to this work with different orientations. For some, the focus is on living the good life—cultivating meaning, clarity, and fulfillment in the midst of everyday responsibilities, relationships, and callings. For others, the pull is toward existential questions (often about purpose) and spiritual unfoldment. For many, these two journeys weave together, revealing that the ordinary and the transcendent are not separate journeys but expressions of one unfolding whole.
Whatever your orientation, the essence remains the same: learning to live with presence, discernment, and responsiveness to life itself—letting wisdom, love, and clarity naturally guide your path.
-
This work recognises that purposefully engaging in practice is a powerful vehicle for transformation.
You have the option to weave practices into your process, or even have it as the main focus. This may look like co-designing a personalised ecology of practices or simply including one or two targeted practices inside the coaching container to support what’s most alive right now.
We may draw from many types of practices:
Contemplative — incorporating practices such as mindfulness, insight, or nondual meditation
Somatic — grounding in the body and nervous system regulation
Imaginal — exploring imaginal journeying, dreams, archetypes, and creative dialogue with the unconscious
Nature — attuning to the more-than-human world for guidance and belonging
Relational — deep listening, authentic dialogue, and awareness in connection
Ritual —personal rituals, ceremonies, rites of passage
Working together
-
I’m Marcel, an Aletheia Coaching practitioner with roots in meditative, somatic, and imaginal traditions. My work is guided by a simple conviction: human beings have a natural capacity for unfolding — deepening in wisdom, widening in perspective, and growing in attunement to life.
Coaching, for me, is far more than a support for self-improvement. It’s about re-humanizing how we live, relate, and make sense of the world together. When you inhabit greater depth, complexity, and wholeness, you’re not only transforming your own life — you’re participating in the unfolding of the wider world we share.
My role is to hold a safe and skilful container for this emergence: a space to listen for the deeper patterns moving through your life, honour the mystery that resists quick fixes, and allow new ways of being to take shape.

This is deep, relational work that unfolds over time. I typically recommend a six-month timeframe to support depth and integration. I ask for the intention to work together for at least four months as a starting point.
You're free to pause or conclude the coaching at any time. Trusting your own timing is part of the process.

Questions and answers
-
Coaching is a collaborative partnership that supports your personal and professional development. Unlike therapy, which often focuses on healing the past, or consulting, which provides expert advice, coaching creates a space to unlock meaningful growth and navigate life’s complexities with more wisdom, resourcefulness, and creativity.
In a coaching relationship, we work together to deepen your self-awareness, expand your perspectives, and help you discover fresh ways to approach challenges.
Coaching is not:
Giving advice or telling you what to do
Sharing expertise from personal experience
Problem-solving on your behalf
A form of therapy or counselling
-
While both coaching and therapy can support personal growth, they serve different purposes.
Therapy is essential for:
Addressing mental health conditions
Working through complex trauma
Managing serious addiction
Processing significant emotional burdens
Clinical applications are outside the scope of coaching.
Coaching is appropriate for:
Cultivating emotional intelligence
Exploring meaning and purpose
Deepening qualities such as presence, wisdom, and compassion
Aligning actions with your deeepest values and aspirations
Discovering fresh and creative ways to navigate life’s complexities
Cultivating happiness and well-being
In principle, therapy can also support these same goals. You might be drawn to coaching because:
The collaborative and less formal nature of the coaching relationship resonates
You want to explicitly focus on development
The methodology used by the coach appeals
The coach has a specific skillset that aligns with your needs
The coaching container feels right for your current journey
-
Many people invest in books, courses, and programs for personal development. While these resources provide valuable knowledge and insights, there's often a gap between understanding concepts intellectually and embodying real change in your life - what's known as the "knowing-doing gap."
Coaching offers something fundamentally different from self-study:
Skilled support in working with what's emerging in real-time
Help in recognising and working with parts of yourself that may resist change
Guidance in moving from intellectual understanding to embodied knowing
Partnership in following threads of development that may be hard to navigate alone
Support in staying with and deepening into challenging experiences that you might otherwise avoid
Beyond these practical benefits, the coaching relationship provides a unique space where fundamental psychological needs can be met in fresh ways:
Being truly seen and understood
Feeling "I'm not alone in this"
Experiencing your impact and capability
Being constructively challenged to grow
Discovering who you uniquely are
Having your experience deeply acknowledged
Your sense of self, others, and the world unfolds through relationship. Since life itself happens in relationship - with others, with work, with challenges - real development often needs a space where new possibilities can emerge through genuine human connection. The coaching relationship provides this space, offering both practical guidance and the conditions for natural growth to emerge.
Many clients find they make breakthroughs in coaching conversations that hadn't occurred despite years of self-study and courses. This is because the unique conditions of the coaching relationship support deeper insight and transformation.

This approach might resonate if you:
Want to completely accept, love, and value yourself exactly as you are
Sense there's more to growth than solving problems and achieving goals
Want to navigate life's challenges with greater clarity and wisdom
Are drawn to depth and meaning alongside practical effectiveness
Want to expand how you make sense of and respond to complexity
Want to meet life more fully, exactly as it is
This coaching approach may not be a good fit for individuals who:
Seek tactical support for specific goals
Seek quick fixes or immediate results, as this work emphasises a gradual, process-oriented journey of growth.
Are not interested in exploring their inner experience, including embodied feelings and emotions.
Are looking for clinical mental health treatment, such as addressing trauma, addiction, or significant emotional burdens, which are better supported by therapy
Are primarily focused on external achievements without inner development
Expect prescriptive solutions or step-by-step strategies
If you're ready to engage with your whole being—mind, heart, and body—this approach may be a powerful fit.
If you're still unsure, booking a free initial consultation is the best way to explore further.

Yes! Our starting point is always a meaningful goal or challenge you're facing. What makes this approach unique is its developmental nature. Rather than asking "How do I fix this problem?", we explore the question "How am I being invited to grow through this situation?"
Instead of problem-solving at the surface level, we work to transform your fundamental relationship to challenges, expanding your perspective and accessing new capacities. For example:
When deep connection feels elusive despite meeting potential partners, you might discover how parts of you orchestrate a delicate dance of seeking and protecting. As these parts feel truly seen, natural capacities for authentic intimacy and love can emerge.
During times when life feels flat despite outer success, you might find how certain parts keep you sprinting on a treadmill of achievement seeking aliveness and appreciation. As these parts feel understood, a natural vitality and sense of meaning can return to your days.
In moments when anxiety or self-doubt overshadow your capabilities, you might uncover how parts of you are working overtime to keep you safe and successful. As these parts feel appreciated, a natural confidence and inner peace can arise.
As your perspective expands, what once seemed like problems to solve become opportunities for meaningful growth. This transformation in how you view and approach challenges tends to create more lasting changes than traditional problem-solving approaches. What you discover in working with one area often naturally flows into other aspects of life, as you develop new ways of being with whatever life presents.

A coaching session with me follows a natural flow:
1) Getting Started
We begin with a genuine check-in about how you are
This isn't just small talk - it helps us both arrive fully in the conversation
We discuss what feels most important to explore today
2) Main exploration
We work with what's most alive or pressing for you
The conversation follows a specific methodology that supports unfoldment
We stay curious about what emerges
We explore your experience exactly as it is, rather than rushing to fix or change it
We often discover unexpected insights, fresh perspectives, or resource states
3) Integration
We reflect on what has emerged
We might identify simple ways to carry insights into daily life
We may discuss what you'd like to notice or be curious about between sessions
The conversations themselves are confidential, focused, and often quite different from everyday conversations. My role is to create a safe space where you can explore freely and discover your own wisdom.

This work invites a different way of thinking about results. In areas of life where challenges are clear-cut—like achieving specific business objectives, solving technical problems, or implementing strategies—setting external goals and working toward predetermined timelines is both effective and necessary. But when we’re dealing with the complexity of modern life, different approach is beneficial.
This work focuses on creating the conditions for deeper capacities and insights to emerge. It’s about developing a more authentic and trusting relationship with yourself and life.
Many clients notice subtle shifts early on—like feeling more centered in difficult conversations, experiencing moments of unexpected clarity, or finding fresh ways to approach old challenges. These small yet significant changes often signal that deeper transformation is taking root. Over time, these shifts build on each other, leading to meaningful changes such as:
Moving from constant self-criticism to genuine self-trust when making major decisions.
Leading and contributing in authentic ways, rather than trying to fit others’ expectations.
Building relationships grounded in connection, not in proving your worth.
Meeting life’s intensity with vitality and grace instead of overwhelm and burnout.
You might ask, "What if I don't feel results quickly?" Growth in this work is non-linear, and that’s part of its power. While some shifts may appear right away, others take time to integrate and unfold. When working with complexity—such as deeply ingrained patterns or navigating life’s uncertainties—progress emerges in layers as your relationship with yourself deepens.
This process is not about measuring success through external milestones but about inner development. These changes often lead to results that are more meaningful and sustainable than anything you could have planned. Whether shifts happen quickly or unfold over time, this work invites trust in the natural rhythm of your growth.

Imagine someone comes to coaching saying, "I give so much to everyone - I'm always there for my friends and loved ones, I can sense exactly what they need, I pour my heart into supporting them. But somehow I end up feeling drained and unappreciated. Why doesn't anyone see what I need?"
At first glance, they might think they just need better boundaries or to learn to say no. But as we slow down, something deeper emerges. We discover how exquisitely they can sense what others need, often before the person knows it themselves. They notice a constant, subtle tension in their body - a restless irritation that has them always scanning for ways to help, always moving toward others' needs while staying disconnected from their own. As we create space to explore this pattern with gentleness, they begin to feel how uncomfortable it is to simply be still, to not be doing something for someone. There's a tender recognition of how this way of connecting through helping started long ago. It made perfect sense - being needed felt like the surest path to being loved.
Gradually, something begins to soften. Instead of immediately jumping to help, they start to pause and feel what's happening in their body. To their surprise, beneath all the tension and restlessness, they discover a natural sweetness and warmth. It's delicate at first, like a subtle releasing around their heart, but it grows more palpable over time.
This begins to change how they show up in relationships. They find themselves able to simply be with others rather than constantly adjusting to their needs. When someone is struggling, they can offer support from natural care and warmth rather than an unconscious impules to help. Most surprisingly, they start to feel a deep contentment in themselves in relationships that doesn't depend on being needed.Friends notice the difference too. "You seem more relaxed," they say, "more fully yourself." Relationships become more mutual, with a natural flow of giving and receiving. That original question about not being seen and appreciated gradually fades away, replaced by a deep sense of love and contentment that doesn't need to be earned.
