Unfolding in relationship with the living world

What’s Nature-Based Coaching?

Nature-based coaching is the practice of remembering our belonging within the living world.

Notice what happens when you recall a moment in nature that moved you. Perhaps standing beneath ancient trees, watching waves meet shore, or feeling yourself held by the vastness of a night sky. What did that moment reveal?

Step into a forest and notice what happens. Your gaze softens, drawn to patterns of light through leaves. Breath deepens without effort. The urgency that drove you here begins to quiet. You're not trying to achieve this, the forest simply invites it.

After hours outdoors, you might return to find that the familiar has somehow shifted. A problem that felt urgent now appears as one movement within a larger pattern. The tension you've been carrying reveals itself as unnecessary holding. Nothing has been "solved, "yet something changed.

In this work, nature is a participant. Through attuned contact with wild places, seasonal rhythms, and your own embodied nature, you discover ways of knowing that complement and deepen what words can offer.

The field of nature slows us down, enlarges perspective, and quietly restores the sense that thinking, feeling, and perceiving are natural processes of the earth itself.

Nature-based coaching is part of my broader approach to coaching. Continue reading to explore it in more depth.

How This Work Lives

Nature-based coaching weaves direct experience in the natural world with ongoing reflection and dialogue.

Sometimes this takes the form of a soul walk: wandering in nature to invite guidance. At other times, it might mean simple mindfulness in nature, or a period of intentional solitude such as a wilderness solo or vision fast. We might explore how the turning of the seasons mirrors your own inner movement: how autumn's release, or spring's emergence, echoes what's shifting in your life. Or we might craft a personal ritual on the land to mark a transition or offer gratitude.

Through these forms, the essential movement is the same: learning to listen. You begin to notice how a landscape reflects your own terrain: the river's persistence speaking to your resilience, the forest's diversity revealing the complexity you're learning to hold.

As this relationship deepens, perception begins to change. Questions that once circled in the mind find movement when held within wider contexts. Patterns that resisted change soften in rhythm with wind, tide, and season.

What arises outdoors continues to live in our sessions, where we explore how these encounters are reshaping your way of being. Over time, a living relationship forms: the natural world becomes an ongoing source of guidance, restoration, and belonging.
