Somatic Coaching
Somatic and embodiment coaching in Sydney and online — inviting transformation through your body's natural intelligence
What’s Somatic Coaching?
Think of a time when your body knew something before your mind caught up—the subtle tension that warned you of an unseen challenge, the inexplicable warmth that signaled you could trust someone, or the deep settling that confirmed a difficult decision was right.
Your body carries an innate intelligence, processing vast amounts of information below the threshold of conscious thought. It speaks through sensation, impulse, and felt knowing. This is a language most of us were never taught to hear.
Somatic coaching invites participation in this living wisdom. Rather than thinking your way into change or forcing new behaviors, we create conditions that allow transformation to emerge organically through your body's natural capacity for self-regulation, expression, and renewal.
Somatic coaching is part of my broader approach to coaching. Continue below to explore it in more depth.
What We Might Explore Together
Somatic coaching invites you into deeper contact with yourself through:
Nervous system attunement – Learning to sense and work with your body's natural rhythms of activation and settling, developing capacity to meet intensity without overwhelm and rest without collapse.
Somatic awareness – Cultivating the ability to track subtle shifts in sensation, energy, and felt sense as they arise, discovering what your body is expressing beneath the noise of thought.
Release and integration – Working with patterns of holding and tension that limit your natural aliveness, allowing what's been stuck or defended to soften and flow.
Embodied presence – Developing the capacity to inhabit your full experience with acceptance and curiosity rather than control.
As we listen more deeply, the body becomes not something we work on, but a way life speaks itself into awareness.
The Need to Move Beyond Stage Models
My somatic work draws from multiple lineages, each offering distinct pathways into embodied wisdom:
Somatic Unfoldment – The somatic mode of Aletheia Coaching, working with your body as an expression of deeper wholeness.
Somatic Experiencing – A trauma-informed approach that restores regulation through the nervous system’s natural capacity for completion.
Breathwork & Somatic Breathwork – Using conscious breathing to release held patterns, regulate the nervous system, and open new ways of inhabiting the body.
Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) – Guided practices that support restoration, integration, and neuroplastic renewal.
These approaches weave together fluidly based on what wants to emerge in our work together.
What Can Unfold
Through somatic work, people often discover:
Natural ground and presence – A reliable sense of embodied stability that remains accessible even in challenge, allowing you to meet life with less reactivity and more genuine responsiveness.
Release of chronic patterns – Long-held tension begins to soften as your body discovers it's safe to let go, freeing energy for aliveness rather than self-protection.
Capacity for intensity – Building tolerance for the full spectrum of feeling and sensation, so that emotions can move through you rather than becoming overwhelming or suppressed.
Clearer boundaries – Developing embodied discernment about what's yours and what isn't, what to let in and what to keep out, allowing genuine intimacy without losing yourself.
Refined relational awareness – Sensing the subtle dynamics between yourself and others, noticing what happens in your body as you connect, creating conditions for more authentic relationship.
Natural vitality and rest – Discovering the balance between activation and restoration, allowing your body's wisdom to guide you toward what's truly nourishing.
Embodied wholeness – Gradually reclaiming parts of yourself that were split off or defended against.
Through this re-humanising process, you rediscover that aliveness is the body’s natural way of belonging to the world.
Is This Right for You?
This is coaching, not therapy. This is a fundamental distinction to honor. If your current goal is to restore normal functioning—to feel stable, manage symptoms, or recover from acute distress—then therapeutic support is likely what serves you most deeply right now.
Somatic coaching becomes effective once there’s enough ground to stay present with intensity and discomfort, and a curiosity about deeper embodiment.
Recognizing what you truly need is itself an act of wholeness.
Working Together
Somatic coaching weaves naturally into the broader field of our coaching work, supporting whatever is most alive in your development. Somatic awareness enriches all threads of exploration.
At the same time, many people are deeply drawn to somatic work and the central focus of their journey. This works particularly well if you have time to engage in somatic practices between our sessions.
If you feel ready to explore, I invite you to schedule a conversation and sense together how somatic coaching might serve your unfolding.
